MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL - 29. 05.2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our foundation to year 2 students have all settled back remarkably well after their period of remote learning.

We are very proud of the way they have walked into the grounds confidently and then readily engaged in their learning.  Compliments to our parents, carers and family members for the way you have supported your children with the transition back to school process including the staggered starts and finishes and your social distancing.  The children seemed very pleased to be back, as have many parents!

Parents and carers are advised that should they elect to keep their child/ren at home in the foundation year, at year 1 and/or year 2 that schools are not expected to provide a remote and flexible learning program where no medical advice has been cited by the school. The children will be marked as being absent. For our children in Foundation - Year 2 who cannot attend school due to medical concerns parents are directed to the government’s learning site Fuse. Again if hard copies are required please contact us. https://fuse.education.vic.gov.au

It is important that children in years 3-6 still follow the government’s directive to continue their remote learning. Their teachers are working hard to continue providing the optimum learning opportunities for the children throughout this time. Please ring the school on 9395 1758 if you need access to hard copies of work.

We have included a flier as a support for parents about how to talk to your child about the virus and its impacts.

As yet we have received no further information from the Chief Health Officer or the Department of Education as to when camps and excursions can resume and for when visitors/parents can return on-site.  Regular monitoring of fresh outbreaks of COVID-19 will determine what and how activities and events can occur and schools will be given further directions to follow.

For your information the school canteen has re-opened but school banking and the second-hand uniform shop remain closed for the time being.  Noone, our uniform supplier is open. Please check their website. https://www.noone.com.au

You may like to remind your child to check the lost property racks during recess breaks for any garments misplaced during term 1.  Please note that we will always endeavour to return garments that are clearly named.

Please be reminded that OSHClub has some free places available for any student before or after school free of charge.  Enrolments can be made at https://www.oshclub.com.au/login/

All children should bring their own water bottle for use at school as drinking fountains have been disabled at this time. Taps may be used to refill water bottles.

Regarding the staggered drop off and pick up for next week can we encourage parents and carers to check the weather forecasts. Some rain is predicted so children will need wet weather clothing and protection for these times.

Thanks again for your support throughout this time.

Yours sincerely,

Susan Lee

Principal
